OUR COLLABORATION WITH LK BENNETT

Introducing our resort collection, inspired by Italian glamour and sunshine filled days!

We worked in collaboration with fashion brand LK Bennett to create the luxe prints and rich hues you can see in the range.

We loved having a chat with LK Bennett about the inspiration behind this collection!

What’s your process when beginning to design a range?

Our prints often centre around certain places and locations, to help evoke feelings of travel and the world around us through print. For this collection we landed on Italy as the perfect choice.

Why did you decide to focus on Italy?

Italy sits very well with the brand of LK Bennett, in the glamorous and luxury feel associated with both. On top of that, Italy has a rich history which we drew upon, from the landscape to art and architecture. Not forgetting the fact that it’s lovely and sunny!

Did you focus on a specific Italian artist or movement?

We try to use a range of references, but we did find a lot of inspiration from the Italian Futurist movement of the 1920s. As the name suggests, their concepts were very futuristic for 1920 and they have a real touch of modernity.

We also took a lot of the shapes and lines from the graphical magazine Campo Grafico. This helped to bring clarity to the range.

How do you translate that into your prints?

We mix this artistry with photography and colour. Our most important component of print is building layers, to create depth and interest.

We can take parts of a print from Italian church tiles, and mix it with colours and motifs to create a unique and multi-dimensional piece.

What’s your favourite piece from the range?

I love the Sophia dress, with the way we layered colours, shapes and lines. I adore the use of the pink mixed chevron that moves into the fruit at the top. We took that from a vintage Italian paper bag and incorporated it.

That paired with the delicate and shimmering fabric gives a fluidity to the piece. There’s a lot going on in this piece, but it’s very subtle and marries together so well.
