Ken Done
Ken Done (pronounced Dohn) is a household name in Australia. He is a painter who gained prominence in the 80’s - I clearly remember his paintings of the Sydney Harbour, and seascapes. He and his wife, Judy, set up ‘Done Art and Design’ and created homewares, clothing, swimwear and soft accessories adorned with Done’s prints.
Both my grandma and mum has his bed linens, and whilst I don’t have a picture of their bedrooms, a quick search gave me plenty of nostalgic options to share with you. The three images below feel the most familiar - My grandma’s bedroom was Apricot/Coral, it was the 80’s after all, adorned with the doona (duvet) cover on the left / centre. I grew up in a wooden home built in 1900 (the Australian worker’s cottage), and mum had the pink bird print, right, and our wooden floorboards were a similar tone to the picture.

I found this little video, a lovely insight into his art, personal style and practice. It’s from a collaboration and re-issue of his bedding with Sheridan, a homeware company, in 2017.
And this article by the Guardian Australia gave more detail into his life and background.
Roza, an homage to Ken Done.
