Eduardo Paolozzi

When thinking about collage artists One of my Muse’s has to be Eduardo Paolozzi. His work included large scale figurative sculptures, prints and collages. He is widely considered as the ‘Godfather of Pop Art ‘. It is his wonderful collection of silkscreen prints from the 60’s and 70’s that pique my interest the most.

I admire his eclectic use of found objects, his references to other artists and genres. His use of clashing bright colours so identifies the era of the 60’s that I love; topical subject matters, men on the moon intertwined with advertising bill boards images, drawn graphs and colour swatches, all which appear effortlessly put together to make a whole image that somehow sings.

Paolozzi has an encouraging and ongoing effect on our approach to designing collections, and many pieces from our ‘Myriad’ SS20 Collection are a testament to that. CoCo, our printed silk scarf was inspired by his unapologetic use of colour and love for collage and mixed-media.

The Tate London has over 350 of Paolozzi’ artworks that can be viewed in great detail here.
