MEXICAN ART

For our S/S20 Myriad Collection, Mexico was the country of inspiration, it has always been a source of inspiration for us both. The country is full of unique handicrafts, amazing colour combinations within art & architecture; home to two of our favourite artists & architects (Frida Kahlo, Luis Baragon). Heti has travelled to Mexico City and Rural Mexico multiple times, both her sons did Gap Years and worked there.

So for S/S20 we decided to delve deeper into Mexican art & lesser-known-to-us artist’s. We learnt about regional colour palettes, techniques and mediums. Explored Mexico City; the street art, cultural festivals and artist’s working within & taking inspiration from the city. Below is a taste of what we discovered and relished in researching.

Mexican Motifs SS20

Our drawings, above, are selection of motifs doted throughout S/S20, that were re-interpreted from our Mexican imagery. We tell a story through these motifs and their interaction with each other in different ways in many designs. Here our Amy silk satin scarf showcases our drawings in a softer, subtler way in the Limoncello colour palette..
